If you think that wearable technology is a passing trend, then you better keep on reading. It’s to be taken seriously, as serious as Google. It’s ATAP division (Advanced Technology and Projects) has announced their first-ever fashion tech venture called Project Jacquard. The idea is to weave thin metallic threads into fabric that would allow for interaction with electronic devices. In other words, the smart textiles on the arm of your jacket may turn on your tv with a simple swipe of your arm. This is not only a fascinating and fun idea but a very useful one as well…consider how it would positively impact the lives of the physically impaired. Google has tapped Levi’s as their fashion component and are planning on releasing their first collection next year.
P.S. I would like to thank fashion designer Yoshinosuke Suzuki for informing me about this project.
