I’m not a jock, far from it, but I can certainly appreciate how innovation has transformed the sports industry.  Nike’s Sports Research Lab (NSRL) is working on a hood prototype that can and will lower the athlete’s body temperature.  It actually looks like a cross between Medieval armor and the Star Wars Stormtroopers.  The hood’s frame and the mesh that falls over the wearer’s face is filled with water. Therefore, upon making contact to skin, it begins to offer an immediate cooling effect. Must be like applying a cold compress to your forehead on a hot summer’s day.  Nike’s invention has been created in collaboration with Ashton Eaton, a decathlon champion.  Let’s keep our eyes open and see if it gets released just in time for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
