It’s late in December and winter is well underway here on the eastern coast of the United States. Yet, for all the layers of clothes I drape over myself, I can still feel the icy air nipping at my face. The good news is that there is a solution to this dilemma. Stoll, a German textile manufacturer, has teamed up with Nottingham Trent University in England to produce an electric balaclava prototype. Aside from it just being a revolutionary idea, it is also 3D printed! A rechargeable battery placed behind the balaclava lightly warms up the electric conductive yarns running across the nose and mouth areas. Two extra bonuses: it is washable and reflective to keep you visible during the dark hours of the night. My prediction? This will make a great Christmas stocking stuffer in the years to come.
