The Sponge Suit is a swimwear prototype designed to help clean the ocean while you bathe in the water. It’s made out of a type of material that acts much like a sponge.  It won’t absorb water but it will pick up toxins.  In fact, it can soak up  25 times its own weight. Once the suit’s functions have run its course, it is able to be melted down to liquid whereby it will be recycled into a brand new suit. The makers behind the Sponge Suit just won this year’s 2015 Reshape Wearable Technology Competition.  It’s a great idea that obviously has a lot of potential. Had I known that one day my outfit could remove pollutants from the sea, I would have been a more dedicated student in my swimming classes.
